WebInvestigating the value which people place on a local beach; Primary Data Technique 1 – Beach Profiles. A beach profile shows the cross-sectional shape of a beach, usually from the edge of the sea to the base of the cliff. To create a beach profile follow a straight transect line from the edge of the sea to the end of the active beach. Beach profiling is a simple way to track these changes over time. By measuring the contour, or profile, of a beach at regular monthly intervals, we can observe long-term patterns of sand erosion and accretion.
